Mary M. Shugart, 91 of Oswego passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 in the Oswego Community Hospital in Oswego, KS after an illness.

She was born the daughter of Lawrence and Lula (Vaughn) Blackard on July 30, 1917.

Mary married C. Roger Shugart on September 4, 1937, near Marion, IN. He preceded her in death.

She enjoyed painting, gardening and sewing.

She was a member of the Evangelical Friends Church all her married life and was the pianist and/or organist for the service for 60 years.

She is survived by six daughters Lois Knight, of Spencer, IA, Rebecca Potter of Oswego, KS, Jean Welle of Oswego, KS, Faith Mitchell of Centennial, CO, Hope Just and husband Wilber of Clearwater, KS, Dawn Russell and husband Roy of Oswego, KS

She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Otis Wayne Blackard, SR, and a sister Loveda Prichett.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday April 28, 2009 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, Ks. with the Pastor Susan Daniel-Brey officiating. With burial taking place at the Friendship Friends Cemetery North West of Columbus. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Monday April 27, 2009.
