Mabel C. (Steppe) Rogers
26 January 1921 — 24 April 2009

Mabel C. (Steppe) Rogers, age 88, had the Lord take her home on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at the Quaker Hill Skilled Nursing Facility in Lowell, Kansas.

Mabel was born in McGirk, Missouri on January 26, 1921, the daughter of Jesse and Lena (Steppe). She was the oldest of five children.

She was married to her high school sweetheart Dale Rogers on September 16, 1941. They celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage.

Survivors include her husband Dale, their only daughter Sue Malone and her husband Joe of Joplin, Missouri, three grandchildren Shelley Scott Willits of Camdenton, Missouri and her husband Charlie, Doug Scott of Baxter Springs, Kansas and Stacy Holley of Temecula, California, three great grandsons Nichols Fox and his wife Elizabeth of Washington DC, Ryan Fox of SanDiego, California, Aaron Le of Temecula, California and three great grand daughters Madeline Holley, Bella Holley, Kennedy Holley of Temecula, California, one sister Laura Imogene Semler of Topeka, Kansas and a sister-in-law Dorothy Bray of Dallas, Texas.

Mabel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend and neighbor to those special people in her life. She was a wonderful cook.

She loved living on the Rogers farm helping raise big gardens and helping Dale farm. She enjoyed Swing Dance, playing pinnacle and the game "31", fishing and their ponds. Mabel enjoyed various social and craft clubs with lifelong friends and ladies of the shrine.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbus. Mabel loved volunteering and helping at the church whenever they needed her.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 29, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Columbus, Ks. with the Reverend Jeff Wary officiating. With burial taking place at the Park Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday April 28, 2009. Memorials may be left for the First Christian Church and may be left at the funeral Home.
