Faye S. Evans

Faye S. Evans, age 93 of rural Columbus, Kansas passed away Monday Feb. 2, 2009
at 4:00 p.m. at her home.
Faye was born January 11, 1916 at Columbus the daughter of Thomas O. and Cora E.
(Hardin) Strannigan.
She owned the Sewing Box Fabric Shop and worked at KneppÕs Flower Shop and
Larsons Dress Shop. She was a 4-H leader with the Central 4-H Club for over 30
years.
She graduated from Cherokee County Community High School in Columbus, Kansas in
1934.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Columbus, Kansas and member of
the Purcel Chapter of the Eastern Star in Columbus. She supported the Disabled
Veterans for 18 years in a row.
Faye married William Lawrence Evans on March 11, 1934 in Girard, Kansas and he
preceded her in death on September 10, 1971. She was a dedicated farm wife.
Survivors include one son Jim Evans and wife Judy and two daughters Jean
Pritchett and husband Jim and Carla Johnson and husband Jack all of Columbus,
Kansas. 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great- great
grandchildren and 1 brother Bob Strannigan of Coarsegold, California, and a
friend Floedna Fiedler of Eufalla, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by one sister Veryl Sullivan and one brother Thomas O.
Strannigan.
Graveside services will be 10 am Thursday at the Park Cemetery Columbus with
Grandson Justin Coberly officiating. The family ask memorials be made to the
First Christian Church or the Shamrock 4-H Club here in Columbus and may be left
at the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, Kansas 66725.
