Willie G. Tanner, age 91 of rural Columbus, KS passed away Thursday Jan. 24, 2008 at the Medicalodge of Columbus, KS after an illness.

Willie was born August 26, 1916 in Cherokee County, Kansas the son of William Henry and Sarah Edna (Bigham) Tanner. He attended schools in the area. He was a mechanic and farmer. He was a lifetime resident of Cherokee County, KS.

Willie married Pearl Ann Zook on Dec. 25, 1943. She preceded him in death March 15, 2006.

Survivors include two sons Ronnie Tanner and Steven J. Tanner both of Columbus; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Lena Daniels and 4 brothers Calvin, Lonnie, LeRoy, Harlan Tanner.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday Jan. 26, 2008 at the Park Cemetery with Dennis Johnson, Pastor officiating. Memorials may be left for the Community Hospices of America Pittsburg division and may be left at or mailed to the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave, Columbus, KS.
