Thelma McKee
6 September 1919 — 12 July 2008

Thelma McKee, age 88 of Columbus, KS passed away Saturday July 12, 2008 at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, Kansas after an illness.

Thelma was born September 6, 1919 the daughter of Fred and Claudie (Imel) Burrows. She was a school teacher and principal at the Spencer School USD #493 Columbus.

She married John W. McKee at Oswego, Kansas on Dec. 2, 1935. He preceded her in death March 4, 1984.

Her memberships include N.E.A. with the state and 1st Baptist Church of Oswego, Ks.

Survivors include son Larry McKee of rural Columbus, three brothers Carl Burrows and Harry Burrows both of Wichita, KS and Daniel Burrows of Wichita, KS, and four sisters Blanche Schwengen and May Johnson both of Portland, Oregon, Violet Jinks of Columbus, KS and Nona Jennings of Rose Hill, KS, two grandchildren Alan McKee of Tahlequah, Ok., and Carla McKee of Columbus, KS, four great grandchildren Abby and Erin Nelson of Columbus, KS and Pamela and Alyssa McKee of Tahlequah, OK and several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

Family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday July 15, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral Home Columbus, KS. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday July 16, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Burrows officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery Columbus, KS.
