Cheryl P. McKee
8 April 1944 — 24 October 2008

Cheryl P. McKee, 64, Columbus died October 24, 2008 at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, MO, after a lengthy illness.

Cheryl was born April 8, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Rex G. and Erma P. (Gaither) Gust.

She married Donald L. McKee on February 15, 1963 in Columbus. He survives of the home.

A graduate of CCRHS class of 1962 she attended both Labette Community College and SEK Vocational School in Columbus, she worked for the Salavation Army Store in Pittsburg and sold Tupperware for more than 25 years.

A member of the Center Christian Church, she was very active in the Sounds of Praise (singing group), Petty Coat EUH, both in Columbus, Sigma Chorale in Parsons and Coffeyville Community College campus in Columbus.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Leslie McKee of Pittsburg. Friends Dana and Chuck Cooks of Pittsburg, and two granddaughters Aria and Jayce Huguenin of Pittsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Toni Haney, and a brother at birth, Gerald Gust.

Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday, October 27 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 28 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus with the Rev. Tom Goettel and Rev. Johnie Adkins officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation and may be left at the Simpson Funeral Home, Columbus.
