Rena I Maxton
26 April 1922 — 9 March 2008

Rena I Maxton, age 85 of rural Columbus, KS passed away Sunday evening (March 9, 2008 at the St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO.

She was born April 26, 1922 in Panama, OK the daughter of Walter Ivan and Joanna (Ponder) Patton.

Rena married Elmer Maxton on Oct, 15, 1938 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death in 1995. She was a homemaker. She was of Christian faith.

Survivors include three sons Kenneth Maxton of Columbus, John Maxton of La Habra, CA and Earl Maxton of the home; and eight daughters Janice Strickland of Riverton, Julia Alfers of Axtell, KS, Ann Appier of Cherokee, Kathy Clouser of Stippville, Ruby Munson of Artesia, CA, Elsie Gorman of Pittsburg, Bea (Sis) Utley of Chanute and Sharon Negley of Stippville. 36 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters and an infant child Erma Elizabeth.

Graveside services will be 12 (noon) Friday March 14, 2008 at the Lone Elm Cemetery rural Columbus, KS with the Pastor Don Talant officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Elm Cemetery, rural Columbus. The services are entrusted to the Simpson Funeral Home Columbus, KS.
