Billy J. Loyd Jr., age 44 of Scammon, Kansas passed away Thursday morning August 28, 2008 at the Freeman Health Systems Hospital in Joplin, MO after an illness.

Billy was born March 14, 1964 at Columbus, KS the son of Billy Loyd Sr. and Sharon Aldrige. Billy graduated from Columbus High School in 1982. He worked as a fork truck driver with the Tamko Company in Columbus.

Memberships include North American Hunting Club, of Pittsburg, KS and the First Presbyterian Church of Scammon, KS.

Survivors include one daughter Heather Loyd of Carl Junction, Mo., brother Mike Loyd of Joplin, MO, sister Deanne Loyd of Columbus, KS, mother Sharon Preston of Hallowell, KS, father Billy Loyd Sr. of West Mineral, KS and an extended family girlfriend Genie Baylor and her children Kira, Kurtis and Aja Baylor and three grandchildren Kyler, Kaycan, Taevyn Baylor, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandmother Margie Aldrige and a sister Lacey Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday September 1, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, KS. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, KS with the Rev. Kip Heth officiating. Burial will be in the Edgmand Cemetery rural Columbus, KS.
