Dollie M. Getman

Dollie M. Getman, age 79 of rural Columbus, Ks. passed away Tuesday evening at
the Medicalodge of Columbus after an illness.
Dollie was born February 18, 1929 at Weir City, Kansas, the daughter of Harry
and Mable (Bennet) McCormick. She attended Cherokee county schools. She worked
for the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, KS for over thirty years.
Her hobbies were playing bingo and helping out on the farm.
She was a member of the Center Christian Church of rural Columbus, KS.
She married Eli Noah Getman Jan. 19, 1947 in Columbus, Ks.
Survivors include 2 sons Jack Getman and Joe Getman both of Columbus, Kansas;
two daughters Eva Phillip of Columbus, Ks, and Mabel McCormick of Chetopa, Ks;
three brothers Walter James McCormick of Sylvia, Ks, Tom McCormick of Columbus,
Ks, and Bill McCormick at Cambrigde, Ks; four sisters Meria Wells-Bannister of
Ark Kansas City, Ks, Elizabeth Tyree, Mary J. Hill, and Harriett Loughridge all
of Columbus, Ks; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Eli, one granddaughter Machella Getman, three
sons Leonard, Jessie, and Eli Getman Jr., daughter Ethal Jones, two brothers
John and Oliver.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday December 19, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral
Home in Columbus, Kansas, with Dennis Johnson, Pastor officiating. Burial will
be in the Edgmand Cemetery Northwest of Columbus, Ks. Family will receive
friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday Dec. 18, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral
Home. Family suggest donations to the Columbus Community Foundation.
