Florence Louise Fruit, age 87 of Overland Park, KS passed away Sunday Feb. 10, 2008 at the Hospice House of KCMO, after an illness.

Florence was born January 2, 1921 in Treece, KS to George Lee and Dona Belle (Williams) Kelley. She grew up in the Columbus area and in 1966 moved to the Kansas City area. She moved to Gardner, KS in 1998 and then to Overland Park, last May.

Florence married Robert Paul Fruit, Sr on December 4, 1935 in Columbus, KS.

She was an avid bowler participating in the Sr. League at Mission Bowl. Florence was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Gardner. She enjoyed hand work, quilting and gardening. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Columbus.

Florence is survived by her children, Robert Paul Fruit, Jr and Sue of Overland Park, KS, Wanda Louise Hubbard and Norman of La Grange, TX, Sharon Kay Hiatt and Larry of Columbus, KS, Donna Mary Martin of Roeland Park, KS, and Andrea Sue Allenbrand and Bob of Olathe, KS; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; siblings Dona Lora Black of Newaygo, MI, Pearl Zook of Columbus, KS, George Leslie Kelley of San Jose, CA and Thelma M. Rocky of IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert in 1988, five brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 14, 2008 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund or KC Hospice. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2008 also at the funeral home. There will be another service 1:00 pm Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Columbus, KS with visitation one hour before the services, and burial following at Park Cemetery, Columbus.
