E. Wayne Wilcox, age 85 of Columbus, KS passed away Thursday June 14, 2007 at Medicalodge of Columbus after an illness.

Wayne was born on a farm north of Sherwin on October 3, 1921 the son of Wiley E. and Bertha (Baker) Wilcox.

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1940.

Membership includes Sherwin Christian Church Sherwin, KS.

Wayne was a farmer and a school teacher. Teaching in Sherwin, Rice and Jeness schools in the area and retiring in 1980. He moved to Columbus in 1966.

He is survived by two dear friends Norman and Debbie Neece of Pittsburg, KS; and one sister Edith Westervelt of Columbus, KS who has been his constant companion since 1991. Several nieces and nephews from the Cherokee County area.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 sisters Gertrude Helwig, Mary Crain, Flossie Souder and two infant sisters, and two brothers Homer and Harvey Wilcox.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday June 16, 2007 at the Park Cemetery in Columbus, KS with Dennis Johnson, Pastor officiating Services are under the direction of the Simpson Funeral Home, Inc. Columbus, KS.
