Veryl M. Sullivan, age 93, passed away at Medicalodge, Columbus, Kansas,
Thursday, February 20, 2007 at 9:13 p.m.
Mrs. Sullivan was born June 9, 1913 at Columbus, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas
O. Strannigan and Cora E Harden Strannigan. She was a registered nurse and
worked at various hospitals including Kansas University Medical Center and Maude
Norton Hospital. She was superintendent of nurses at the Maude Norton Hospital.
She married Temp H. Sullivan at Columbus, Kansas in August, 1934. He died
February 17, 1984. She graduated from Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas
City. She was a member of the First Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star,
Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Tommy and one daughter,
Sandra Lee. She is survived by two daughters, Sue Matter of Columbus, Kansas,
Betty Souts of Denver, Colorado and one son, Bill Sullivan of Boliver, Missouri,
one sister, Faye Evans of Columbus, Kansas and one brother, Bob Strannigan of
Corse Gold, California, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3
great-great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 10:00
a.m. at Park Cemetery, Columbus, Kansas with Pastors Dennis Johnson and Jim
Jessup officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Columbus, Kansas. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the First Christian Church
which can be mailed or brought to Simpson Funeral Home, 323 S Kansas, Columbus,
Kansas who is in charge of funeral arrangements.
