Harry M. King, age 86, of Joplin, MO formerly of Columbus passed away Thursday morning September 6, 2007 at the Joplin Health and Rehab Center in Joplin, MO.
Harry was born June 1, 1921 at Hockerville, Oklahoma, the son of Harry and Rose Mary (Hammond) King.
He married Maxine Muth on April 3, 1948 at Miami. OK. She passed away November 2004.
Harry was a mechanic and owned his own shop in Columbus, KS. He also worked at Day and Zimmerman in Parsons, KS as a millwright.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 till 1946 were he received WW II Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic-Pasific Campaign Medal-Star.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and the VFW #1372 both in Columbus, KS.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Swaim and her husband, Paul of Joplin, MO. One granddaughter Sarah Swaim of Tucson, AZ. One sister Betty Cunningham of Calistoga, CA.
His wife Maxine, parents, one brother Jack King, and two sisters Lil Mangum and Rose Cox preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends from 6 til 7 p.m. Sunday Sept. 9th 2007 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday Sept. 10, 2007 at the Simpson Funeral Home, with Jeff Wary, Minister officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery rural Columbus. The family suggest memorial donations to the First Christian Church and may be mailed or left at the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave Columbus, KS.
