Donna K. Hurlbert, 66 years old, of Columbus, Kansas died at 7:10 a.m., April 3, 2007 at St. John's Medical Center, Joplin, Missouri after an illness. She was born February 28, 1941 in Pittsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Maie Nelson Shed. She was then adopted by Zack T. Nelson and Bessie Hughes Nelson. She married Gary L. Hurlbert May 6, 1960 at Duenweg, Mo. He survives of the home.

She graduated from high school in Kansas City, Missouri. She retired from 23 years employment with Wal-Mart, Pittsburg, KS. She was a member of the Columbus Christian Center and the Columbus Saddle Club, Columbus, Kansas.

She is survived by her spouse, two daughters, Betha Elliott of Columbus, KS and Karen Carlton of Pittsburg, KS. One brother, James E. "Butch" Glasgow, Liberal, MO, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Colleen Sims, Mattie Mae Maiseroulle, Loretta Brooks; four brothers, Harry Mac Nelson, Floyd Shed, Don Shed, and Danny Shed.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Columbus Christian Center, Columbus, KS with Pastor Jim Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2007 until service time. Private inurnment will be held at a later time.
