Margie Hamilton
6 October 1922 — 23 September 2007

Margie Hamilton, age 84, passed away Sunday (September 23, 2007) afternoon at her home after an illness.

Margie was born October 6, 1922 in the Crestline, KS area, the daughter of Charles and Lillie (Kaiser) Dixon. She graduated from Riverton High School. After high school she taught in a one room school house. Then she attended the Business College in Joplin, MO.

She was a Southwestern Bell Telephone operator, and a checker at Ferriers Grocery Store in Miami, OK, Army Ammunition plant, Rogers Iron, Farmers Chemical Co. retiring in 1988, she also managed the HUD Housing in Columbus for 10 years. Then she worked for Apple Market until her health forced her to retire in March 2007.

She married Johnnie Hamilton on November 24, 1956 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1996.

One of her favorite hobbies was gardening and raising flowers.

Survivors include two sons Johnny and Barb Jeffrey of McCune, KS and Jimmy and Jacque Hamilton of Hallowell, KS and two daughters Janice Leeper of Joplin, MO, and Linda Jones of Miami, OK, one sister Charlene Duncan of Crestline, KS and 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Elmer Charles Jeffrey, one grandson Dennis Jones, two brothers Clyde Dixon and Glenn Dixon.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 27, 2007 at the Crestline Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Duncan, Jim Duncan and Jerry VonMoss officiating, burial will be in the Park Cemetery Columbus, KS. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the St. Johns Hospice program and may be left at or mailed to the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, KS.
