Ronald D. Beaty, 'Pa' age 73 of Columbus, KS passed away at 9:11 p.m. Friday
June 15, 2007 at his home with his family by his side.
Ronald was born May 25, 1934 at East St. Louis, Ill. The son of Amer and Dorothy
(Schermann) Beaty. He grew up in the Bluejacket & Welch, OK. area, and
moved, two miles East and 1 mile North of Columbus, KS at the age of 12. He
finished grade school at the Martin School N.E. of Columbus and then graduated
from Cherokee County Community High School, Columbus in 1952. He then attended
NEO A&M College in Miami, OK and then PSU in Pittsburg, KS.
He was a charter member of the Calvery Baptist Church in Columbus, KS.
He married Gladys Stinson in Columbus, on July 11, 1952. She survives of the
home. They we blessed with two sons Fred and Mike both of Columbus.
Ron worked at the BF Goodrich Rubber plant for 33 years. Retiring when the plant
moved from Miami, OK in 1986.
Ron managed and coached baseball teams from Farm Club thru Babe Ruth.
He was always working on the ball fields and fences to make playing conditions
better for the boys.
Later in his life he took an EMT course, an EMT-I and an EMT instructors course.
He taught several EMT classes at the Ambulance Station, where he was a
Volunteer for the Cherokee County Ambulance Services in Columbus, KS.
At the age of 60, Ron took flying lessons at the Miami Airport, he was so proud
of the fact that he and his grandson Dustin, then 16, took flying lessons at the
same time. He fulfilled a life long dream of being a pilot. He started a plane
rental business in Miami, OK that is still in operation.
Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years Gladys Beaty, his sons and their
spouses, Fred and Barbara and Mike and Johnna all of Columbus; three
granddaughters Myranda Beaty, Natasha Beaty and fiancé Kevin and Nicole
Eby and companion Brandon; one grandson Dustin Beaty and wife Amy. Three great
granddaughters Peyton and Savannah Beaty, and Jadeyn Ivey and one great grandson
Julian Rather all of Columbus. Sister-in-Law Wanda Beaty and six nieces Brenda,
Debra, Kathy, Bobbie, Becky, all of Columbus, and Pam of the state of Oregon,
and two nephews Steve of Columbus, and Lloyd of the state of Oregon, all of
their spouses and children. Many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Melvin.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday June 19, 2007 at the Simpson Funeral
Home, Inc in Columbus, KS with Dennis Johnson, Pastor officiating. The family
will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday June 18, 2007 at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Park cemetery of Columbus, KS. Memorials may be made for
the American Heart Association and may be left at the Simpson Funeral Home, Inc
