Marguerite E. Lyerla
9 December 1910 — 2 August 2006

Marguerite E. Lyerla, age 92 of Columbus, KS passed away August 2, 2006 at the St. Johns-Maude Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus, KS.

She was born Dec. 9, 1910 at Tescott, KS the daughter of Claude R. and Myrtle S. (Ruggels) Boggs.

She received her Masters in Education from Greeley, CO in 1943. Her last job before retiring was a teacher and a principal at Park School in Columbus, KS retiring in 1976 after 40 years in education.

Memberships include First Christian Church Columbus, KS; Delta Kappa Gamma; Retired Teachers Assoc.; Progressive Home; CWF of the Church and the Clio Club

She married Warren C. Lyerla on August 18, 1946 in Columbus, KS and he preceded her in death in 1991.

Survivors include one son Warren C. Lyerla of Joplin, MO and one daughter Bette N. Geisler of Columbus, KS. Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Nellie Lanz and one brother Edward Boggs.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Simpson Funeral Home, Columbus, KS with the Rev. Dan Haggard officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery. Columbus, KS. Friends may call after noon Friday Aug. 4 at the Simpson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been set up at the First Christian Church Columbus and may be left or sent to the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, KS.
