Harry Lorraine Land
28 November 1929 12 October 2006 Harry Lorraine Land, 76 of Columbus, KS passed away on Thursday October 12, 2006 at the St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, MO.
Harry was born November 28, 1929 at St. James, MO. She was the youngest daughter
of Harry and Laura Land. She was preceded in death by her parents and three
sisters, Dorris Cottrill, Bobbie Graham, Iva Finnegan and a grandson, Sean Turk.
She married William Schrandt of St. James, MO in 1947 and they later divorced in
1966.
Harry is survived by a son Rick Schrandt and wife Antoinette of Hervey Bay,
Australia, a daughter Denise Hodgson and husband Jim of Columbus, KS and sister
Pauline Avery of Colorado Springs, she was the loving grandmother to Joshua
Schrandt of Eagle Nest, MN, Jessica Sullivan and husband Luke of Greeley, CO,
Amanda Hodgson of Columbus, KS, Rodney Hodgson also of Columbus, KS and John
Hodgson of Sioux Falls, SD, Tim Hodgson and wife Juanita of Columbus, KS,
Melissa
Zuniga and husband Joe of Hesston, KS and 12 great grandchildren.
Harry had an exciting professional career in Dallas, New York, Missouri and
Kansas. She started the Miss Mike's Employment agency, worked as Sales Manager
and a model for Revlon Cosmetics and Cody Cosmetics. She was an advertising
executive at the Dallas Times Herald, first woman editor of Women's Magazine of
Dallas TX. Sold advertising for the Joplin Globe and recently was the developer
of Fair Oaks Subdivision and Harry enjoyed remodeling old houses to resell in
the local area.
Memorial Services will be Monday, October 16, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Simpson
Funeral Home in Columbus, KS with Paul Duncan, Pastor officiating. Visitation
will be held Sunday October 15, 2006 6-8 p.m. at the Simpson Funeral Home in
Columbus, KS. Interment of Ashes will be at Leasburg, MO at a later date.
