Joseph H. Justice

Joseph H. Justice age 89 of Faulkner, KS died Saturday, September 23, 2006 at
the Medical Lodge of Columbus, KS after a short illness.
He was born November 4, 1916 at Faulkner, the son of Joseph Curtis and Laura
Roberts Justice. He was the fifth child in the family. His sisters, Mildred
White, Helen Moore, Pauline McQueen and Lucille Graham have all preceded him in
death.
As a child he attended Faulkner Grade School. He then attended the Columbus High
School and graduated in 1953. After school, he began farming full-time with his
father.
On February 12, 1939 he married Miss Louise Chapman, daughter of Louie and Julia
Chapman. She survives of the home. He purchased a farmstead from Curtis McCoy,
near his parents and they began their married life there. Besides farming, he
raised purebred Angus cattle.
As a full time farmer, he participated in several county wide organizations. He
was on the board of directors of the Cherokee County Soil Conservation Service
for 11 years. He served on the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank of
Parsons and Chanute for 12 years. He served on the Farm Home Administration
Board for 3 years and the A.S.C.S. for several years. He was a member of
Faulkner Christian Church and the Labette County Farm Bureau.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son , David and Linda Justice of
Faulkner and a daughter, Helen and Kenneth Kelley of near Columbus. He has three
grandsons Alan Justice of West Mineral, Jay Justice of Faulkner, Jason Kelley of
Conway, Arkansas; one granddaughter Sara Stanley of Columbus; one great
granddaughter, Kayla Justice of Columbus; three nieces and one nephew.
Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday September 27, 2006 at the
Park Cemetery Columbus with the Rev. William Peters officiating. The family will
receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday September 26, 2006 at the Simpson Funeral
Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Cancer Society and may be mailed or left at the Simpson Funeral Home
Columbus.
