Dorothy Aileen Jarrett, age 83 of Columbus, KS passed away Thursday December 7, 2006 at the Medicalodge of Columbus, Ks after an illness.

Dorothy was born September 11, 1923 at Baxter Springs, Ks, the daughter of Leroy L. and Magarett (Chase) Laizure. She grew up and graduated from Columbus High School in 1942. She work at several restaurants in Columbus then worked for Conner Hotel. Then she work for Boeing for 42 years.

She married Herbert Edmond Jarrett December 4, 1944 in Pittsburg, KS and he preceded her in death March 11, 1945.

She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church rural Columbus, KS.

Survivors include two sisters Eva Mayhood and Lorene Kelso both of Columbus, KS, several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Harrold.

Graveside funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 9, 2006 at the Greenlawn Cemetery rural Columbus, KS with Dennis Johnson, Pastor officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m til we leave for the cemetery at 10:00. Saturday Dec. 9, 2006 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, KS. The family suggest memorials to the American Cancer Soc. And may be left at the funeral home.
