Sally Mueller Chubb
4 November 1932 — 17 April 2006

Sally Mueller Day Chubb, age 73, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away with her family by her side at her home on Monday, April 17, 2006.

She was born November 4, 1932 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of William Herbert and Laura Mueller Day. She graduated from West High School, Rockford, IL in 1950. She attended the James Ward Thorne School of Nursing at Passavant Memorial Hospital, Chicago, IL, and graduated in 1953 as a Registered Nurse. In 1968, she moved to the Baxter Springs area and lived there until her death. She enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and growing pecans all throughout her life in Kansas. She worked at St. John's Clinic in Baxter Springs until December of last year.

She was a member of the Center Christian Church of Columbus, KS. She was a happy supporter of the Cherokee County 4-H children, especially her granddaughters' club, the Spring Valley Sparklers. Her greatest honor in life was to support her four children, their spouses, and her seven grandchildren in all of their endeavors.

She was married to Richard M. Chubb for twenty-six years.

Survivors include: one son, Richard Marshall Chubb, Jr., and his wife, Leslie of Manhattan, KS; three daughters, Sally Ann Tibbits, and her husband, Randy of Grove, OK; Laura Beth Atkinson, and her husband, Rick of Baxter Springs, KS; and, Kathleen Nadine Patton, and her husband, Wayne of Bella Vista, AR; one brother, William Herbert Day, Jr., and his wife, Doris of Covington, LA; two step-sisters, Joan Picken Bailey-Murray of Rockford, IL and Mary Kollar, and her husband, Robert, and their children, Scott and Alex, of Cumberland, RI; seven grandchildren, Sarah Lynn Tibbits of Austin, TX; Rhiannon Elizabeth Chubb and Julian (Jude) Richard Chubb, both of Manhattan, KS; Charla Beth Atkinson and Hannah Rose Atkinson, both of Baxter Springs, KS; Ross William Patton and Alayne (Laynie) Kathleen Patton, both of Bella Vista, AR; a niece, Darcy Day, and a nephew, Randy Day, and his wife, Helen, and their child, Kastan, all of Seattle, WA; and a very special cousin, Deenie Shomsky of Sturgeon Bay, WI.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John (Jackie) Dudley Day in 1952; her mother, Laura Mueller Day in 1960; her father, William Herbert Day, Sr. in 1981; her step-mother, Lois B. Howard in 1996; and, her father and mother-in-law, Leonard L. Chubb in 1997, and Nadine Marshall Chubb in 1998.

A celebration of Sally's life will held Monday, April 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Center Christian Church with Tom Goettel and Justin Coberly officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later time. Memorials may be made to: Cherokee County 4-H — Scholarship Fund; or Center Christian Church — Music Fund, through Simpson Funeral Home, 323 S. Kansas, Columbus, KS 66725.
