Donald Ray Tedlock Sr., age 72 of Columbus, KS passed away December 11, 2005
suddenly at his home.
He was born June 20, 1933 at Columbus, KS, the son of Glen and Marie (Thompson)
Tedlock. He graduated from CCCHS with the Class of 1951. He was a photographer
on the Checoukan Staff. After graduation he lived in Dallas, TX while going to
photography school.
He was called to serve in the U.S. Army, and was in the Korean War, and then to
Hawaii where he served as photographer and clerk-typist. He worked at the
Columbus Daily Advocate as a photographer and reporter.
He married Virgie Smith on October 4, 1957 in Columbus at the First United
Methodist Church.
They moved to Dallas, TX in July 1959 where he worked in a portrait studio and
later worked at Continental Electonics as a photographer for over 35 years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Columbus, KS.
Survivors include the wife of the home, one son Donald Tedlock Jr. and wife
Kylie of Dallas, TX, one daughter Sue Tedlock of Columbus, KS, one grandson
Phillip Gray, several nieces, nephews and cousins all over the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Teresa Lyn Tedlock.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday December 14, 2005 at the Simpson
Funeral Home in Columbus, KS with the Reverend Don Flanner officiating. Burial
will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, south of Columbus, KS. Family will receive
friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 13, 2005 at the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S.
Kansas Ave. Columbus, KS.
