Esther Lucille Edmondson

Esther Lucille Edmondson, 88, Columbus, KS died at 5:30 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2004, At the Medicalodge of Columbus, KS.

Mrs. Edmondson was born December 6, 1915, in rural Columbus, the daughter of Thomas Benton and Pearl Turner Relf. She attended rural grade schools in Cherokee County and was a Normal Training Graduate of Cherokee County Community High School at Columbus, KS.

She married Shade Thomas Edmondson on January 2, 1937, at Miami, OK. The couple lived in rural Cherokee County before moving to Columbus in 1996.

Mrs. Edmondson taught at Ingram and Diamond rural grade schools. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of rural Columbus, where she served as pianist and in many other capacities. She worked on the election board at Faulkner for many years. She served as project leader for the Whistling Bob White 4-H Club and was a member of the Jolly Workers Extension Club.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley D. Edmondson of Columbus and Ted D. Edmondson of rural Columbus; a daughter, Patricia Bendure of Oak Grove, Missouri; Nine grandchildren; Three Step-Grandchildren; Sixteen Great Grandchildren; Four Step-Great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (June 30, 2004) at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, southwest of Columbus, with the Rev. Larry Perry officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, also southwest of Columbus.

The family will have visitation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday night (June 29, 2004) at the Simpson Funeral Home, Columbus, Kansas

Contributions may be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and may be left or sent to the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, Ks. 66725.
