Mary L. Cunningham, age 65 of Columbus, Kansas passed away Tuesday morning (April 6, 2004) at the St. Johns Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Missouri after an illness.

Mary was born May 31, 1938 in Columbus, Kansas the daughter of William R. and Mary Ann (Guy) Brumback. She grew up and attended school and graduated from Columbus High School. She worked for the Medicalodge of Columbus, Ks. as a dietarian and the Maude Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Ks. as a housekeeper.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Columbus, Kansas.

She married Robert C. Cunningham on October 29, 1955 in Columbus, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Robert Cunningham Jr. of Weir, Kansas; two daughters: Dawnas Groentz of Arma, Kansas; and Connie Cates of Harveyville, Kansas. Two brothers: Jack Brumback and Robert Brumback both of Columbus, Kansas; one sister, Shirley Grant of Columbus, Kansas. Two grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one son David Curtis Cunningham.

According to her wishes the casket will remain closed.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday (April 9, 2004) at the Simpson Funeral Home of Columbus, Ks. with the Pastor Robert Blake officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery Columbus, Ks. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m. Thursday (April 8, 2004) at the Simpson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest a memorial be made to the Leukemia Society of America and may be sent to or left at the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, Kansas 66725.
