Dorothy B. Vanatta

Dorothy B. Vanatta, age 84, of Columbus, Kansas passed away 9:40 p.m. Sunday
(March 9, 2003) at her home after an illness.
Dorothy was born Oct. 30, 1917 in Ottawa Co., Oklhaoma the daughter of Orville
and Cynthia Marie (Ragsdale) Dowty. She moved to her home in rural Columbus, Ks.
in 1955.
She was a homemaker.
She was a Member of the Bible Holiness Church in Treece, Kansas. She was a
Minister at the Bible Holiness Church she did missionary work in Arizona and was
a Sunday school teacher.
She married Bruce Vanatta in Dec. 1934 in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in
death Dec. 1988.
Survivors include two daughters Joyce Cudney and Vivian Waldon both of Rural
Columbus, and three sons Leonard Vanatta of rural Columbus, Ks., Bruce Steven
Vanatta of rural Caney, Tom L. Vanatta of rural Columubs, Kansas. Two sisters
Lucille Kelly of Miami, Ok. and Rebecca Lunsford of Rural Commerce, Ok. And two
brothers James Dowty of rural Galena, Ks. and Irvin Dowty of the State of Nev.
13 grandchilren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (March 12, 2003) at the Simpson
Funeral Home in Columbus, Kansas with the Rev. Ricky Waldon offic. Burial will
be in the Greenlawn Cemetery Southwest of Columbus, Kansas. The family will
receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday (March 11, 2003) at the Simpson Funeral
Home in Columbus.
