Edith M. Delmont, age 85, of Columbus, Kansas passed away at 4 p.m. Monday
August 4, 2003 at the Medicalodge of Columbus after an illness.
Edith was born September 17, 1917 at Gage, Oklahoma the daughter of Spencer and
Minnie (Marshall) Pitcher.
Edith married John Orbin Delmont December 23, 1933 at Commerce, Oklahoma he
preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1987. Mrs. Delmont worked as a Nurses Aid for the
Hillcrest Nursing Home Rural Columbus, Ks. for awhile before starting at Maude
Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Kansas for a number of years retiring in
1986. Mrs. Delmont was a member of the Macadonia Baptist Church rural Columbus.
Survivors include four sons John O. Delmont of Columbus, Ks., Jerry Delmont
Baxter Springs, Ks., Larry Delmont of Columbus, Ks., and Rick Delmont of
Columbus, Ks. Three daughters Colleen Cresap of Ocean City, Wa., Helen Kropp of
Joplin, Mo., Carol Chrienberry of Broken Arrow, Ok., 21 grandchildren, 40
great-grandchildren. 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by one son Clinton Earl Delmont and one daughter Linda
Kay Delmont, four brothers Ernest, Loyd, Chales and Elza Pitcher, three sisters
Rosetta Pitcher, Mabel Howell and Helen Makinen.
Funeral Services will 10 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 7, 2003) at the Simpson Funeral
Home in Columbus, Kansas with the Rev. Marvin Cleveland officiating. Burial will
be in the Lowell Cemetery at Lowell, Kansas. The family will receive friends
from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 6, 2003) at the Simpson Funeral Home Columbus,
Kansas. Memorial has been established in Edith Delmont's name for the Macedonia
Baptist Church rural Columbus or the Neutral United Methodist Church
