Charlie N. Sandberg
7 November 1921 — 29 July 2002

Charlie N. Sandberg, 80, of Crestline, Kansas, passed away at 12:55 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2002 at the St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri after a three week illness.

Mr. Sandberg was born November 7, 1921 at rural Columbus, Kansas, the son of Alfred and Cora Elizabeth Anderson Sandberg. He was a life long resident of Cherokee County, Kansas. He was a farmer. Charlie served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945. He married Glenda B. Fleming on July 3, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas. She survives of the home.

He was a member of the American Legion of Columbus, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife of the home, one daughter, Charlene Lee of Crestline, Kansas, one brother, William Sandberg of Columbus, Kansas, three sisters, Doris Saala, Dorothy Sandberg and Juanita VonWedell of Columbus, Kansas, three grandchildren, Manda Lee, Jeramie Lee and Billy Lee of Joplin, Missouri and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sandberg was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Charlie Glenn Sandberg and one grandson, Brandon Lee.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a. m., Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, Kansas with Reverend Dennis Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m, Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Simpson Funeral Home, Columbus, Kansas. Burial will be in Lone Elm Cemetery, rural Columbus, Kansas. Simpson Funeral Home, 323 S Kansas, Columbus, Kansas is in charge of funeral arrangements.
